OEGS is looking for new committee members

As a small but growing society, we are in need of one or two more willing volunteers to help with the general running of the society. All positions are voluntary, and interested parties should have been a member of OEGS for a minimum of 12 months.

OEGS involved in 2 DNA studies!

Cardiff University – This study uses a combination of blood/hair samples from living goats, and nasal swabs, to conduct a DNA comparison between the UK native and naturalised goat breeds. The Old English Goat is just one of several UK breeds participating in this study, along with the British Primitive Goats.

SRUC – This study seeks to compare Old English Goat (nasal swabs) DNA with Nubian and Anglo-Nubian goat DNA, to determine any historic common ancestry.
